The Animal Crossing mobile experience fans have been waiting for has finally seen an announcement as Nintendo confirms that Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be launching on Android and iOS devices in late November 2017. The newest addition to the Animal Crossing franchise will see players building their own campsite in a brand new town, surrounded by a host of new and returning friends.

After arriving at a beautiful but empty campsite, the player will be greeted by fan-favorite villager Isabelle who asks players to run the place, much in the same way she did back in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. After arriving, players will explore the area with their newly customized character, collecting bugs, fishing, or fruit picking, just like they would in previous AnimalCrossinggames. Villagers will also be there to talk with, and leveling up friendships with them is a great way to earn rewards and gifts from the animals themselves.

Players can decorate their own campsite with the items they’ve collected while playing, and Cyrus will once again be on-hand to craft specific items when required. After hosting them at camp, villagers are free to return at any time, so campsites can become quite the community hangout once they begin to grow. Larger amenities such as a merry-go-round or half-pipe can also be built, given a little time, and are sure to attract more attention to the camp.

The new crew over at OK Motors will also set the player up with their own camper van, a feature that will replace the classic Animal Crossing house. The van can be customized in a range of ways, and even made bigger on the inside with a little extra pocket change. What’s more, as with the developer’s previous release Miitomo, Nintendo aim to give players incentive to keep returning to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, so the game will host a range of events as well as changing dynamic based on both time of day and the season.

So far, it’s looking like the Animal Crossing mobile experience is everything fans had hoped it would be and, with the release date finally so close by, we won’t have to wait long to see if the title lives up the hype. Micro-transactions will be present in the game but it’s not yet known to what extent, and whether it will affect the gameplay too severely.

Players can spend real money on Leaf Tickets which shorten the time needed to craft items, more easily acquire materials, or acquire unique camper exterior designs, though this will hopefully not lead to the game being difficult to play without forking over their hard-earned cash. 20 Leaf Tickets will set players back $0.99 whereas 200 Tickets will cost $7.99 but doesn’t seem to be the upper purchase limit, so the fate of the game may rest on just how much the title is based around these transactions.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will release late November for Android and iOS devices.

AMAZING with minor drawbacks....but overall great

I love love LOVE this game and have been playing it since it came out last year. I can spend an hour and more on it and not get bored. However, there are a few things I’d like to give my input about. The cabin is definitely a great addition to the game and allows for more decorating which I love. I do think only giving one single friend point for the requests done in the cabin is too little. It already takes a long time to increase the levels with your animals friends so in my opinion it should be equivalent to what it is at your campsite. I also do think there should be an update that allows us to put furniture anywhere in our campsite and cabin, rather than just within the small squared space. It would allow for the animals to roam around anywhere and everything wouldn’t be so compacted. I also don’t really use my camper. I would love if there was an added tent or something for my own person stay rather than the camper. It would be nice to be able to use the amenities that we have been adding to the campsite as well. Also, even when we max out the amenities I feel that we should be allowed to place them back on our campsite as we please. I enjoy the pool but I am maxed out so cannot place it onto my campsite any longer.
Lastly, there should definitely be more challenges, I have one left in the overall. I would love there to be more daily and more overall so that I could make more leaf tickets as the game progresses.

Awesome!! Honest feedback

I LOVE this game. It brings me back to the days of my childhood playing animal crossing on my gamecube. I think there are many aspects of the game that are excellent but I wanted to give my feedback because this is a game I want to continue to enjoy, rather than something I get sick of. First, I think the game needs to continue updating and expanding. I think more locations and the map overall should expand so there is more to do. The game sort of feels like a loop - the animals move, I do their requests, then I wait for them to move again. I think an expanded map would be a huge thing and would make the game much better. I also think there should be more challenges to complete - I am almost done with my stretch goals and would like more goals to focus on. And one more thing - I think we should be able to go inside of our tents and decorate them. We should have the amenities for the animals, but I literally never go inside my camper or even pay attention to it. If we could have a personal tent for our character that we could decorate, similar to designing your own house in the original game, I would seriously LOVE that.
So overall, an expanded map with more locations and more to do (even if they are locations like shovel strike quarry where we don't meet animals but rather do other tasks), more challenging tasks (more of them more frequently), and a personal tent for us to design and decorate. Other than that, the game is great!!

Camp

Charming, with only minor drawbacks

Let me start by saying this game is beautifully designed, relaxing, and keeps me entertained enough to look forward to my MANY logins each day. I almost gave it 4 stars because of the few drawbacks which I'll mention in my review, but the overall charm of the Animal Crossing series and the additional content in the game (like the new holiday themed goals and furniture) helped push this to a 5 for me. The clothing and furniture to collect as well as the short and long term goals give me plenty of things to accomplish, and make the game a continually rewarding experience. There are the drawbacks that any Animal Crossing fan is used to such as the slow pace, which in this game is set by timers, as well as repetitive dialog and interactions with the campers. The steep increase in crafting time on newly unlocked items is also a con. I wouldn't necessarily take these things out of the game, and I'm not surprised or disappointed at the micro transactions either. But for some people I can see how these things could be frustrating. If you play at a slower pace the way traditional Animal Crossing is designed for then it likely won't be much of an issue, but the impatient folks like myself may be tempted into buying more leaf tickets to speed things up. That being said, the game can still be thoroughly enjoyed without spending a penny. It's without a doubt the best mobile game I've ever played, and one of the only mobile games worth your time.
